Pope Elected

Well I was lucky enough to turn on the telly just as the white smoke started coming out. Rather intriguing.

Edit: And it is Joseph Ratzinger. I actually hoped he would be elected. He doesn't have the charisma of John Paul II and so Benedict the XVI, as he will be known, will do much to reduce the power and influence of the Roman Catholic Church in the civilized world while not giving it the boost in the third world that a pope from there might have given them.

I didn't. I expected there to be a battle between the traditionalists and the reformers. I'm afraid that a quick victory is one for the traditionalists.

What reformers? That's why I say I was not surprised. The system was rigged by John Paul II to elect Joseph Ratzinger and that's who got the job.
