Retailer Review: The Denver Book Mall

mishalakBroadway in Denver is home to several excellent bookstores. One of them, the Denver Book Mall, is actually one building with several dealers under its roof. The store is clean, well lit, and hosts frequent events and signings by authors. The dealer with the largest section, Linda M. Lebsack, specializes in Colorado and Western history. But of course with so many dealers under one roof there is an incredible variety of works available. My favorite, since I am a science fiction fan, is Who Else! Books run by Ron and Nina Else.
By independent book store standards their collection is not large, but their sf & fantasy section is as good or better than many dealers with their own storefronts. They have an especially good stock of books by local authors, like Connie Willis, Ed Bryant, and Carol Berg.
The hours of the book mall are fairly standard, with the exception that they are open on Mondays, when many other dealers are shut for the day. That's part of the strength of many different sellers being able to mangage the store as different times. Though it should be noted that when Linda Lebsack isn't there her section is closed. The Book Mall is located at 32 Broadway in Denver. The hours are Monday through Saurday 10am-6pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.
