Joe Agee ([livejournal.com profile] rvrjoe775) pointed out that giving up power isn't very Gormenghast, and he's right! Maybe that's why I'm not getting more participation, I'm using the wrong themes. I'll have to try using something more democratic next year. Let's see, Discworld? One man one vote, nope that's not quite what I'm looking for. Dune? Rule through armies and making people believe you are a god, that's not it either. This is harder than it looks. Party of the Living Dead, my friend Rose Beetem suggested that one, hurm a horde of zombies does seem fairly egalitarian, but not as attractive as I would like. I could do a Betan (from the Vorkosigan books) party, they're pretty democratic. Though they don't have the distinctive fashion thing going on as I remember. The Barrayarans have the uniform thing, but again not democratic. Why can't democrats get better tailors? I shall have to cogitate on this some more.

There's always the Zardoz look. Vaguely Romanesque battle garb for the guys. I think everyone wore pants, and only the men wore shirts. But then, most of the women seemed to be the young Charlotte Rampling, to my eyes.

I'm pretty sure Ziggy Stardust wasn't a Republican. And he was from Mars *and* had a great tailor.
