The Government of Spain has declared three days of national mourning. The only thing I can say is that I too am in mourning for those that are dead though I am not Spanish. It isn't as perfect as the touching statement made by Le Monde proclaimed, "Today we are all American," after September 11th. But it is all I can say that doesn't sound hokey.

I was surprised to find out, so rudely, that America is not the only place to be targeted by terrorists. I hope people in our country will empathize with what Spain is going thorugh, but somehow, the cycnical side of my brain doubts it. At least you and I do.

Britain was the target of IRA terrorist bombing for thirty years. What were so many Americans doing all that time? Funding them. They were just good old 'freedom fighters' in those days.

Well in certain neighborhoods they were freedom fighters. I don't know anyone who expressed such an opinion. And my relatives were not shy about horrible opinions. I was once advised not to marry a black woman because the races should be separate.

Strangely, the first I knew about this was supergee's link to a post by redbird. I finally found out what happened after the sprout was in bed, late last night.

What the fuck do these people think they're proving? It's sickening. It's stupid. There's no message other than "We bad! We bad! Uh-huh! We bad!"
