I think the memories can be one of the niftiest of the livejournal features. The trouble is that many people don't use it so I want to encourage everyone reading this to think about doing the following.

First check out my memories page where I added twelve new entries to my index in the last 20 minutes: http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=mishalak Next I want you to do the same, take 20 minutes to just grab a few of your favorite posts. They don't have to be the best, I just started from where I left off at the end of November and started adding. Then post a chunk of text like this in your journal.

Now I'm all ambitious so I'm going to take another hour to see how far I can go towards getting caught up.

Completely off topic -- this particular user pic makes me wonder though -- any idea if a significant part of your genetic heritage is is Slovak? You really look it.

Ancestors

Father's Father: Polish (South and east of Krakow)
Father's Mother: Quebecois French settlers who later moved to Michigan
Mother's Father: Scotch, Welsh, Irish, and Cornish
Mother's Mother: Irish and Swedish

I suppose that the Polish might be a bit close to Slovak. However my father's looks show where my ancestors supposedly came from before they arrived in Poland. According to family tradition we're Tartars who settled in Poland and intermarried with the Poles. My father has a sort of dusky cast to his skin and when he grows a mustache he looks like he ought to be wearing a furry hat and burning villages.

I mostly look like my great-grandfather on my maternal grandfather's side of the family. So that would be the British grab bag. He was supposedly mostly Cornish or something. We don't know because he had a falling out with his family, moved to Colorado with his wife, and never spoke of the relatives back in Illinois.

Maybe its the scruff that makes me look more like my Eastern European ancestors.

My favourite posts? Do you mean my own?

Well others will do in a pinch, but who's going to promote you if you don't do it yourself? Go find some interesting posts! They don't have to the "the best" just take 20 minutes to go through your archive and find things you find interesting. Go man! Go!

Yes but why? For the life of me I can't see any point to my doing as you suggest. I have copies of all my posts stored on my computer where they're far more accessible to me than as memories. And everybody else can easily access all my past posts as is.
