The Day After Angel: You're Welcome
Feb. 5th, 2004 01:53 pmWell I've got to say that I didn't see that ending coming. I should have, but hey I did have enough foresight to see the big talking to each other scene that exposed Lindsey (He was just being too cute with the calling himself Doyle thing, bound to cause him trouble). Here are my thoughts on the rest of the season. The big bad whatisit is still down in the W&H basement, I expect it will be back later on because it isn't just going to quietly sit there as loose plot end. Also we never did learn what Eve wanted and she is far from vanquished, does anyone think that security will keep her our if she really wants in? The Senior Partners are not just sitting around doing nothing. They only gave Angel & Co. the LA branch because they think that by doing this they can bring about the apocalypse. I expect they are setting things in motion against Angel and I would not be surprised if it involved Lindsey. They didn't kill him on the spot after all. That could just mean a lot of torture before they kill him, but very likely torture and then being set back as their tool.
Oh and I'm still trying to figure out how Angel & Co. are going to get out of the law firm. The Senior Partners can't/won't take it away. They are apparently very letter of the law about their contracts. It belongs to Angel & Co. However as is obvious from the fact that they have a Whatisit in the basement just for him that doesn't preclude killing him off. And they could too, if they feel like they have to. Angel is just a vampire with a soul, nothing precludes that happening again. It would just be a major setback for them, not the end. Certainly they don't want to delay their project, but they will if they have to.
Oh and now that Cordy is actually dead, where did her visions go? Did they die with her or did they go elsewhere? And does that mean we will have a new player on the board shortly?

I'm not pushing the big, red, candylike button! No, no, no, no, no!
(I gotta watch the tape of last night's episode. And the one before that. Soon!)

Date: 2004-02-05 09:30 pm (UTC)I thought that Cordy's reappearance was far more important, seeing as how she was a loose end left over from *last* season -- and (besides Angel himself) the only other character from the very start of the series. Could her visions be moot now that the gang can get lots of cues directly involving W&H, its clients, etc.? Yes, it'll be interesting to see how they deal with that.
Re: Sometimes They Come Back
Date: 2004-02-05 11:08 pm (UTC)The Survivors(still alive at the end to first season they appeared in):
Lindsey, Lila, Harmony, Spike, Drucilla, Ethan, Anya, Invisible Girl, The Electric Thief, the other Vengeance Demon, Dehaffalon (sp?), Warren, Jonathan, Andrew, Faith, and The First Evil.
Of the ones that are not dead due to later actions we have four who have sorta or completely reformed, including Spike, Andrew, Faith, and Harmony. Plus Anya, who reformed, relapsed, reformed and finally died.
And out of fifteen, only seven are still alive and still evil as far as we know. Only one, the Invisible Girl has never appeared again. Ethan is in government custody, The Electric Thief was not that evil and finally got what she wanted, The First Evil is unkillable, and we just saw Lindsey. Drucilla and Dehaffalon appear to be the only killable bad guys still totally on the loose.
I may have left some out, but my point is that villains who are not dead tend to come back for another round. And even a few who are dead get in a few more appearances. I'm just suspicious that Lindsey will be back, and I think it likely it will be this season.

if Angel gets the visions rather than Spike, then that would alleviate his doubts as to being the one.
or would it? maybe it would mean he's now second fiddle to Spike the way doyle & cordy were to him.
hee, hee

Date: 2004-02-06 10:23 pm (UTC)I was very sad, partly because Cordy has always hung in the back of my brain as MIA, not *dead*. Also because Charisma Carpenter showed that she has more acting chops than I gave her credit for, and is maturing rather than just wasting away or ditzing out. So, of course, they permanently take her out of the picture. Bastards.
I hope Lindsey stays away. I'm just darned tired of him. The series "Angel" and Wolfram and Hart in particular seem built on bland macho men surrounded by more interesting characters, and Lindsay was about as bland and macho as they come.
I am in the interesting position of having beloved spouse walk through the basement to the laundry room when I'm watching 5th season Angel with her fingers in her ears going "LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" because she wants to watch the whole thing *in order* and not be surprised prematurely. Jeez.
