Cheap Victory!

Everyone who gets to know me finds out that I hate to spend money unless absolutely, completely necessary. Do I really have to?

Today I have achieved a cheap victory. I have used a dish towel for such a long time that it has actually literally worn out. It developed holes during the course of drying a glass. This towel was given to me in approximately 1999 when I had my first apartment. So it takes me about 14 years to completely wear out a dish towel... Well... Give me a dime and call me Jack Benny.

I got 4 identical dish towels and the plan is that if they get used in rotation, it'll take four times as long to wear them all out, by which time I'll be sick of looking at them anyway.

I actually have lots of dishtowels. In that way I am nothing like Jack. The thing is that I never throw out the old ones until they are totally unusable. I think this one is now destined for the rag bag, for example.
