A Sur·feit of Cloth·ing

I have finished what should be the penultimate load of laundry from the recent house trouble. Cleaning the remaining clothes proves to be problematic for two reasons. First is their mixed odds and ends nature including some that are dry clean only or bright colors that I did not wish to throw in with browns, blacks, blues, or whites. Secondly is that it turns out that I have more clothes than drawer and closet space when I really make an effort to get nearly everything clean rather than there perpetually being about two baskets of laundry that ought to be done. It is rather like those old jokes about overloading a ship with birds and keeping half of them flying to keep the boat from sinking. And this after I threw out boxes of black socks that had gone grey and tee shirts that were less than perfect. Clearly I need to do more pruning or else find more storage space... Perhaps some more under the bed/couch boxes in which to store seldom worn mementos of years gone by. Like the first clothing item I ever purchased with my own money, a sweater that I bought when 15 that still fits me, but has seen better days.
