Under Cover of Darkness

We headed over with the first truck at 9:0pm. It was distasteful to be doing this under cover of darkness like we were thieves, but my uncle, the head manager of the company who'd convinced my parents to invest in him, had my father convinced that this was the best way. Less trouble from members and less opportunity for the landlord to try anything else underhanded. We had eleven professional movers plus the three of us. Everything went out the back door for a while so as to give time for the parking lot out front, which we shared with a bar among other businesses. My uncle was quite concerned about people seeing what we were doing and telling our members.
The day had been hazy and hot, the night was cool with a half moon. Blooming trees, I think they were American Lindens, scented the air sweetly. It would have been a pleasant night for a walk. The equipment started to move surprisingly quickly. By 10pm all the treadmills were gone and everything was looking different. Eventually my uncle had to relent about the trucks out front as otherwise we would have stalled, everything else was too large for the standard sized door in back. No one bothered us though a few currious people having a smoke looked on.
Where was I? Watching and packing up electronics like computers and phones. They were going to my parents' home since putting them in a storage unit did not make much sense. I continued taking things apart, packing things in boxes, and keeping an eye on what was happening to make sure nothing too valuable just walked off. And I gave away some drinks and I finally had a smoothie at our place. Not bad.
After about seven hours of this I was feeling rather tired and so were all the movers. We all decided to knock off for the night and I went home for a few hours sleep.
End of the second part.
