This is exactly what I expect from Pixar. Moments of wonder, sadness, fear, and ultimately hope. I went into this movie as cold as I could manage. I tried to avoid every trailer (success) and every hint of what would happen (partial success). I am not going to say anything else about this movie's plot in case anyone besides me wants to go in the same way. Go see it. Period. Pixar has once again lived up to its reputation.

This is not a realistic movie in the sense of absolutely following real world physics and rules, but it stays true to its own internal rules. Don't worry too much about the why's and how's.

I'll put the rest of my review under a cut in another post. But suffice to say this movie is probably my choice for the Hugo awards in Best Dramatic Presentation next year.

Well, that makes my mind up. I shall go see it.
I have not seen much about it, and frankly was skeptical. Thanks for the incentive!

I'm sure you'll be pleased. The only advice I might give is to go in an accept the rules you're being shown in the first 15 minutes. Don't worry that these situations are not realistic (and talking fish are?) the movie will stay true to its own internal rules.
