Yesterday was wonderful. Starting at the end the last wonderful thing of the day was a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich. I had the whole grain bread from Whole Foods the day before where I was forced by hunger to get a snack. Bread was the least expensive thing I wanted. Far too pricey, but that's the nature of the place. And since it all got used I don't mind so much.

I made it during a Settlers of Catan game which was the first I've played with my friends where I did not win. That was fun and the sandwich was absolutely divine. The bacon was crispy without being unpleasantly dry, the lettuce was crisp, and the tomato was rich over the earthy roughness of the bread. Best sandwich for a while. The game was great fun as well. I got nicely cut off from winning by one of my friends. Just as well, I would not have them to play with if I won all the time. Next time though I shall double down on a single strategy rather than seeking to diversify. Diversity has its place, but a single fast drive for victory with a minimum of diversionary tactics wins this particular game.

We had all come back to play after having gone to the park with ice cream. Why? Because it was there and the Liks was crowded with customers. It was great fun dangling our feet in the fountain in Cheeseman Park, I cannot recall that I've ever done that before. And the ice cream was pretty good, though perhaps next time I won't do peach ice cream from them. Not peachy enough. Though, contradictorily, the taste of Richard's pistachio ice cream was a bit too real pistachio in taste for me. And totally appropriate since the pride parade started there earlier in the day and progressed down to Civic Center for the big festival. Where we'd gone when Phil and Aran said they'd like us to come with them.

I saw three people I knew at pride. Two of them straight. I do have a rather diverse group of friends. It was hot, but not as excessively as some years. No sunburns in our group and we did not buy anything. Just showed the flag and made a circuit. Plus Richard got to see a star from one of the 'reality' shows he watches. That was pretty good. I decided that I need a tee shirt to advertise the club better though. Something fashionable, but with a message like, 'Ask me about socializing Sci-Fi fans', but not that wordy. Perhaps just, "Geek Pride" with an appropriate graphic. And my friend Paul wants one that says something like, "Straight, I Just Like Rainbows," or "Straight Guys Can Like Rainbows Too".

All this and brunch as well. Though I doubt Annie's will work out as a good place to have brunch. It seems a little too stripped down. I like inexpensive food, but I don't want to have the same few breakfast selections every Sunday. I want a brunch were I can get a salad, among other things. Annie's Cafe is not a true brunch spot, it is just a breakfast slinging place. With cheap food. (I did not care for their omelet. Too tough.)

So that was my Sunday.
