During brunch on Sunday I learned that this fine movie is playing at the Mayan Theater here in Denver. So plans gradually came together to see it at 5:15pm. Eventually me Rose, Timmy, Kaia, and Laura all did the movie thang.

My review is positive. This was not the usual gigantic payoff at the end horror slaughterfest. Instead it was a honest and sweet movie about a man confronting evil because it is the right thing to do. That sounds pretentious, I know, but I'm trying to explain that this isn't going to satisfy a guy's need for monster killen like Alien. But it does have some nice creepy elements and a solid plot. And it has a lot of funny situations. I liked it a lot. See Bubba Ho-Tep while you can if you like low budget but very well made movies.

Hurry! With movies like this it is unlikely to be here for more than one week since it doesn't appeal strongly to the random slaughter flick crowd, the art house mavens, or the homosexual community.

I'm informed that Minneapolis will have exactly one showing of this film, and I have found out when yet.

Ouch. I hope you get the chance. Though I think this is a movie that will work just fine at home. In some ways it was a bit like an extended episode of the Twilight Zone. And I do mean that in a positive way.

It ran locally (SF Bay Area) in an art house for a couple of weeks. I think it would have done better if there had been more publicity for it.

I figured I should get the word out in my own small way for that reason. Maybe it will play for more than a week. I suppose we'll find out tomorrow evening when what's playing in the coming week at the Mayan is announced.

Apparently not. You need help getting over there for a showing? Oh and what are you doing on the 6th? I'm going to be working so I'll be close to your place if you want a ride to the DASFA Alternate Party.

Hmmm...

I'm not entirely sure, tomorrow evening I was going to be at a group attendance with some friends (I mistakenly thought it was this evening, duh) - but things kinda went rocky and I'm not sure I can secure transportation in time. ^^; But eh, regardless... I'll see what I can find...

...and oooh, Alternate Party? I do believe I'm veryvery free. :D I'd love to attend, dankya so very very much...

I have no idea when I'm going to be done, but I'm working today as well. I'll pencil you in for the 6th.
