A Journey

Now I actually miss being on rec.arts.sf.fandom a bit. Or some other group with a large number of somewhat erudite people who might be able and willing to answer random questions about destinations. But I left there for good reasons (I could not keep up with the flow of information and it became too hard to use and I could not figure out a good way to keep using it. Why am I less computer savvy now than when I was 20?)

But that's neither here nor there. But where I will be is there. There being Newark International at 6:09pm on the 17th of July. I'll be in there until the next day at 5:30pm. Well not right there in the airport, I have vague plans to head into New York on Wednesday the 18th of July before have to return to the airport to fly first class to Athens. The Athens, not one of the imitators in someplace like Georgia. And I'll be in Athens from about 1020am local time on the 19th until the next day at 12:20pm. Anyone who can recommend a really, really good restaurant in Athens? I ask because my father is retiring and this whole adventure is his penultimate flight. His last flight as a commercial airline pilot will be the one leaving on the 20th at 12:20 from Athens to Newark (arriving 4:30pm in Newark, also on the 20th). There will be water cannons doing a thing over the plane as part of his send off and all. I'd call that better than a gold watch myself. And once again I'll be staying overnight in 'Jersey and flying home on the 21st of July.

In plenty of time to be slightly jet lagged at DASFA.

So any recommendations of what I should do with half a day in the New York on the 18th of July? Or things to eat or the two places I really should not miss in Athens on the 19th and morning of the 20th?
