Annoyances
Nov. 21st, 2003 04:08 pmA Pointless Story
When I was in college I was told that my stuper power (You know, stupid super power, like being able to shrink. Totally useless incredible ability.) would be to annoy people to death. If they didn't tear off my arms and beat me with them first.
I don't think I am anymore, after all people keep on expressing that they enjoy hanging out with me, but when I was a kid or teen I was intolerable. One of the cheerfully annoying things I did was to hum while I ate. I did this from about age five to age seven when grandma Helen told me to quit it. Apparently it had gone from cute to irritating two meals previously. I don't know why I started doing it, I guess it was a yummy "mmm" extended through the whole meal. Or else I just liked the way it sounded to chew and make a noise at the same time. "hmmhmmhhmmHHmmm"
I've worked very hard to stop with my nervous twiches. I've not totally sucessed yet, but I'm getting there. It used to be that any table I sat at would move a little bit as I wiggled by foot. Very hard habit to stop.
I've also gotten better at not babbling when I meet people for the first time. That always made a great impression, me geeking out all over the place due to being nervous.
