Reflections on the Boondocks
Jul. 13th, 2003 09:44 pmOh I adore Mrs. Bradley, she's a wonderful detective on the PBS Mystery series. She's like a female version of me being snarky. Lovely woman, and I love the way she does asides to the audiences. And she's played by the incomparable Diana Rigg! Her best line, "The countryside is a soggy sort of place where animals and birds wander about uncooked." I've said similar things when talking about my rural childhood.
I didn't care for growing up there. It made me who I am, but I wouldn't exactly call it ideal. It helped to make me rather unsocial as a child since I didn't get a chance to be with other children outside of school much. And today? Well there's nothing to do in the country unless you're really into yard work. Social life? Forget it. I'm a confirmed city boy.
