I would like to think that everyone who reads my journal is a good person, but to make sure that you all REALLY believe in gay rights buy me Kiriko Moth artwork (or send twenty dollars, cash). If you don't you'll make catboy Jesus cry and you're a rotten cad, no better than a Vogon.

(On the other hand if you dislike emotional blackmail and poorly worded chain posts, regardless of what they're in support of, you could just give me a link to fun art or something.)

(On a more serious note code word bigots often say such things about any sort of stand up and be counted with the virtuous action, but this one just rubs me the wrong way. "We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on livejournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks." Bleah.)

Pretty good fun! <grin> Much more artful than much of the B&D I've seen on the web.

That's pretty rude, but pretty! I think I like Michael Manning, though he's pretty firmly hetero. Thanks.

I believe he is bi, personally, and much of his art reflects his interest in gender play and if-it-moves-tie-it-up-and-sex-it kinky sex. There's a fair bit of unapologetic gay sex in his story books.

I think people should quote me. Why shouldn't I be famous? I need to come up with a quotable response to terrorists or something so that the next time something goes around I can become a big important name.

When I google for "fun art" this is the first image I get:

Not all that fun, IMAO.

Well better than playing Google Sepuku I suppose. (Using image search on a somewhat random word until you come across something so bad you wish you hadn't played.)

While I'm not sure I really agree that it's emotional blackmail, I've noticed a few people have had issues with it. That's why I added a bit of extra wording. Still, I really wish more people *would* stand up and be counted.

I mostly really like the quote.

And here's my mother-in-law's artwork. She does some really beautiful stuff. http://be-mused.us/

Well, I'm not keeping track of who reposts it and who doesn't. I'm sure that anyone who bothers to read my LJ supports gay rights, because I know them.

Well, I know most of them, anyway. There are a few whom I don't know, but they're friends-of-friends for the most part, and many of them are gay or bi anyway. Except for the medic on duty in Iraq who found and friended me through the "show me the last [x] posts made" feature, and I know he's a supporter. (Which reminds me, he hasn't posted in a few months... I hope he's okay.)

The tone of the thing is just off. And really I don't do chain letter posts almost ever and I don't see what it accomplishes. If this went around something more like, "I want all my friends to know I support gay rights and if any of you don't to please think about why you don't," that would be one thing. Also the quote is dead wrong anywhere but the movies. A guy holding a gun is going to be pretty shortly confronted by the police and everyone is going to be very, very nervous. Two guys holding hands usually isn't confronted at all anymore.

I think that in some areas, you might still run into a problem holding another guy's hand in public. Even up here, where we have legal gay marriage, if I were to go to say, Kitchener, and walk around holding a guy's hand we'd get some nasty looks. Nobody would say or do anything, but they'd be doing the whole "if looks could kill" thing.

Then again, Kitchener is a pretty blue-collar town.

Then there's Alberta, where they actually threatened to use the notwithstanding clause in our constitution to ignore the Supreme Court's ruling making same-sex marriage legal. But the premier of Alberta is a redneck. Fortunately he's retiring soon.

I've been in places where you can get called "faggot" for wearing tight pants (there was an SCA house meeting there). But the only place I can think of where walking around holding a gun wouldn't get much stronger reactions are gun ranges.

BTW, you don't know me but I'm told you and I ought to have friended each other, by another in fandom. We share many friends. I've friended you. Hope you'll do the same
