Updated to be even more hideous!

Because my finger is on always on the pulse of the fashion world (sorta) I managed to be alerted to a truly horrendous fashion don't by Old Navy despite not seeing the commercial. Well the first fashion don't is "don't shop at Old Navy". Seriously. They're the Gap for losers. Take whatever cool Gap might have, strip it away, bring in lots of clueless wannabes and that's Old Navy. The second don't is don't wear tie dyed plaid shorts and skirts in eye numbing pastels. How the hell did they come up with eye numbing pastels anyway? For that matter plaid... well it isn't a good look for the most part. I mean sure if the plaid is traditional and you want to look like a Scott or a cowboy, that works. They work as alone as shirts, skirts, kilts, and perhaps shorts, but that last one is really pushing it and it needs to be with a solid (like white, because it won't clash) rather than with another bit of plaid. But I think the plaids that I've been seeing on the preppies lately just look bad. Like the guys want to look like they dressed up in 1968 cast offs that didn't even look good back then. I'd sooner wear a polyester suit in powder blue than any of these "Madras" things I saw in that commercial. Even the boy shorts in the background looked pretty horrendous.

Disco Inferno!

Huh, I thought the madras plaid was some new thing invented by Old Navy. Guess my Cindy Lopper title was spot on.

Madras plaid predates Old Nave and even the '80s by, well, by quite a bit. And it's "Cyndi Lauper". And there's no such thing as a tie-dyed plaid.

I totally swear that at least one pair looked like it was plaid that was tie dyed.

If you say so, but not in the picture I'm seeing.

Forgive me but

Oh, madras goes way back, and I remember having pants in it a while back. Maybe the 80s, I don't remember.

Didja know I'm very remotely related to Cindi? Her mother's brother, Russell, is married to Sandy, who is the twin of my stepmother, Sue. It was one of the first things Sue told me, that I was going to be related to Cyndi Lauper. I liked some of her music, but not enough to want to be related to her, especially through my Evil Stepmother.

I've been seeing teenage boys wearing polo shirts with the collars turned up recently, as well as one or two wearing two polo shirts layered.

My first thought was, "Is it 1982 again?"
