There needs to be a really good movie made of the American Revolution. I know, 1776, but it is... somewhat schmaltzy. Maybe it can't be done. I mean look at what happened to The Patriot. The Americans became even more of plaster saints and the English became as bad as the Nazis. Maybe the real story is too messy and ambiguous to make a satisfying film. And the myth of the American Revolution is too... Olympian to take seriously. Far off actions of perfect heroes we can't relate to as humans.
