AccretionMy art at Karval Kon. I tried to make the picture as true to how my eye saw it as I could, though it isn't a perfect representation.  It is an artist's impression of the polar jets that come off of black holes due to a small amount of mater not falling in the event horizon being deflected out of the disk by collisions with other particles.

Crayon on black construction paper by Mishalak, 2006.

Just curious - what was the inspiration?

No particular inspiration. Just diagrams of black holes I've seen over the years.

Substantially better than my "art" from the collage therapy session at Minicon!

Thank you. It was only a little crayon work though. Half of how it looks comes from putting it right above a lamp.

As in illuminated from close by, or from both front and back?

Does look pretty good.

Close by, the lamp was immediately bellow the drawing.
