mishalak: A fantasy version of myself drawn by Sue Mason (The Prince)
[personal profile] mishalak
I saw the type in your name to see what kind of god you are meme thingy circulating recently. And I decided that it would be much more interesting to come up with my own God type powers, symbols, and so on. (Snarky: He didn't like the results he got. Cheerful: Quiet you.)

Mishalak
God (or Patron Saint) of Bibliophiles (esp. fantastic literature), Fans with Fashion Sense, and Unwise Endeavors. In his own words.
Powers: I work through serendipity, odd coincidences, emails, alcohol, and the pouncing on people and pleading with the victim until he agrees to do whatever strange mission I want or need done.
Weakness(es): Libertarian or other sufficiently serious political rhetoric will usually drive me away. I have a weakness for sacred meals (read: free ones) and can be induced to show up anywhere remotely reasonable if offered one.
Sacred Animal: Bees, they are very cool.
Weapon: Ummm something not tacky, like a fencing sword. Elegant. I'd rather run away and get him later, I'm not really a weapons and smiting type god.

If anyone else wants to be a god or goddess send me a message here or via email and I'll attempt to come up with something cool for you.

Keep in mind despite my research that this will be about as accurate as the answers produced by one of those livejournal quizzes. Now on to the next deification.

Look text you can copy into your journal if you want! Or suggest modifications before I post it in my own journal.

Goddess (or Patron Saint if she's dodging touchy Anglicans) of People Half Way Between Two Worlds, FIJAHs (halfway between the worlds of Fan and Mundane), Fannish Bisexuals, and Boundaries. In her own words (sort of):
Powers: When called upon I usually answer prayers through changes of fortune at boundaries. I'm also fond of sending messages when someone is on the edge between sleeping and waking.
Weakness(es): It is quite likely that Britney Spears' Music will send me packing. I cannot seem to resist clicky things. Or Chocolate.
Sacred Animal: Hedgehogs, because they are cute, wise, and
Feast Day: The 4th Monday in February

Powers: People might see me coming running out of the night with my guitar over my shoulder. I can appear anywhere in Britain or America. Don’t underestimate the power of a song to change hearts or bring down the arrogant and powerful.
Weakness(es): Singing at sunset is something I love to do, but don't expect me in the rain. Water isn't friendly to music.
Sacred Animal: The Nightingale which sings so sweetly of love and loss.
Feast Day: The 4th Wednesday in February

God (or Patron Saint when he's going incognito among Catholics) of Garage Experimenters, Mad Scientists, and Magnetic Fields. In his own words (sort of):
Powers: Oh I usually send out inspiration, nothing super flashy. Though if I show up in person it's a lot of fun to ride the lines of force, it can cause some spectacular effects in nearby metal objects.
Weakness(es): Now don't get me wrong, light is great stuff, but there is a limit. Don't be trying to call upon me in broad daylight or under klieg lights, I'm more likely to be up at night. I view single malt scotch most favorably when it comes to sacrifices, though in a pinch anything hard will do. But don't pour it out on the ground, that's a domovoi thing, I take mine in a glass.
Sacred Animal: Donerkine, they're a sort of living electrical storm that are mistaken for ball lightning by mortals.
Feast Day: The 3rd Tuesday in May
Weapon: It's far too easy for a god of magnetic fields to get a serious jolt of electricity going, I don't limit myself to unhip smitings like just flinging a lightning bolt off at someone. I'll take some time to come up with something new every... Damn it this is taking too long, I'll just smite him with a lightning bolt!

Powers: I'm the god to go to when you need help finding your way around traffic jams, construction, and those difficult to navigate side streets. Also I'm terribly helpful in being able to get in and out of places silently, almost like a cat one would say.
Weakness(es): It's not that I'm especially vulnerable to fire, I just I guess I am for a god. So no waving torches at me! On the other hand if you're serving Iced Tea I'll sit down for a while and if it's made with Darjeeling tea, well that's just decadent.
Sacred Animal: Cats of course, as if you had to ask. Black ones. Though they also count as people you know.

Powers: I can be quite helpful in finding soul mates, if I'm in the right mood. And I give excellent advice on winning love, if people ask. Oh and some minor things like being able to put people in a romantic frame of mind.
Weakness(es): Ice is one of those things, it might look nice through a window with a hot drink in hand, but I really don't care for it in person. I really like it when I'm given star eyes, sand lilies, and other sweet little flowers. Oh for me? Thank you!
Sacred Animal: Doves, obviously.

Weakness(es): My equipment can be taken away from me for a time and then I'm almost as helpless as a mere mortal. But I'll get them back eventually and when I do he better be running. Now a new book is just as likely to slow me down, but I won't be angry afterwards.

I can make it happen by fair means or foul. You just need to be ready and then I'll whisper to you what to say next from the shadows.
Weakness(es): To be honest I cannot stand edged iron. You mustn't pray to me in the presence of a knife or sword. Now if you fix me a nice cup of tea and sacrifice some ink I would be much more inclined to listen to your plea.

Weakness(es): Lightning, especially the captured kind is all about law, order, the proper way of doing things. I never touch the stuff. I do have a fondness for music and young men.
Sacred Animal: Crickets
Feast Day: The Last Monday in December
Weapon: The Sword of Ice. Not that it's actually made out of ice, since that would be useless in battle; it's just extremely cold. And it's made out of some sort of crystal so it is wicked cool looking. I don't really know how it works, I got it in a complex deal involving the frost giants, Vulcan, and Mishalak.

I'm glad you like it! I don't know how I get things right either. Part of it is research, but that only carries me so far. Then I have to ladle out some of the crazy soup of ideas in my brain. And if I can just let go and write, sometimes I get some really good stuff.

The research part is why it takes me about 4 times a long to do something like this as the word count would indicate. I once did something similar called The Guide to the Pyramidians about the users of the newsgroups at a online magazine. That took huge amounts of time since eventually I had about 200 entries.
