Okay I was remiss in not chronicling my Sunday. Brunch and a swing by Fahrenheit's for a while on the off chance that my friend Jose ([livejournal.com profile] the_enthusiast) might be there. We were planning to get together but communications got confused since I sent my late Friday email to his work address. At brunch I told Maya a slightly improved version of "Kiska and the Firebird". She likes it okay, but I sometimes wonder how much it is about hearing a story and how much it is about getting an adult to do something for her.

At two it was the penultimate MileHiCon committee meeting. Quite well attended with 19 people at Linda Nelson's house for about three hours. Then Rose, Linda, Becca, Bruce, and I hung around talking until almost six in the evening. The meeting was fairly useful for getting information communicated and the smoffing about cons afterwards was grand fun. I attempted to put the screws on some of the gathered con runners for the idea of a Westercon bid. Get people to come along with me to Westercon next year in Phoenix. No one volunteered.

<very secret diary>
Am beginning to suspect I will have to appear in the middle of the night with ropes to get people to come along with me. Therefore must get a pirate/conquistador outfit including lantern for this purpose. Would not do to be underdressed for a fannish kidnapping. Plus perfect excuse for both bid party theme (Conorado! sic) and an excuse to talk in pseudo 16th century English lingo. Arrr...

You'd get me to do anything if you appeared in the middle of the night with ropes, pirate outfit or not.

And I'm sorry, but it had to be said. I couldn't stop myself.

It's quite all right. I say things like that all the time. Well not all the time, mostly online. I'm such a sad character.

I was inspired by this evil Something Positive comic

I thought we were meeting at The Crypt- so I hung out there for awhile. They bugged me until I bought a "LeatherMan" biker hat.

Actually, you need an old British Naval uniform.

I mean, you're talking about press-ganging, right?

Thanks for telling Maya the story at brunch. I figure between you, Rose, Laura, Kaia, and a couple of other people she will have a fabulous set of "relatives" to remember to her (flatmates, students, kids, convivants, pals) later in life.

When you're five, and you're at a party, and you're bored, it's pretty much all about getting an adult to do something for you. On the ohter hand, she still calls you "Story Guy" so...hard to tell....

I kinda wonder if she'll rebel by never going to brunch again in her life when she's a young adult, and starts going to that mysterious thing called "church" that she's never been involved with because her parents were too hidebound to take her to it when she was little.
