So I was dreaming that I was at some sort of anime/gaming convention. I was assigned to do something or other in a big meeting and the subject of staff tee shirts was mentioned and the lady running the show said there was a small and extra small left. I called dibs on the extra small. That got some stares from other staffers. I also remember thinking that I didn't know why I was there since I'd dropped out of fandom. I mentioned this on the way to my assigned post and another volunteer said that it was par for the course to feel that way.

I noted I had on my batman tee, a pair of tight black jeans, and my cool belt with the lighter in the belt buckle. Even in dreams I behave as a clotheshorse at conventions.

The stain of fandom lies deep in our souls, for better or worse. Often, it is for the better. You just have to decide what parts of it you need, and what you don't.

But why can't I be guest of honor in my dreams rather than staff? My dream life is exceedingly unfair.

By the way: Your SO is very hard to talk to on the phone. I really was not in the mood for a deep conversation and it made me very dour.

A belt with a lighter in the buckle? Is this something that really exists, or was it only in the dream world? (Not that I have money to spend on such a thing, but it sounds cool.)

And I've had a number of convention-related dreams. Usually centred around Toronto Trek going to pieces, but I expect that I'll have some interesting dreams next year from May-July as I'm chairing two conventions in that period (Gaylaxicon and Toronto Trek).

I ended up going out wearing that belt, my batman tee, and tight black jeans with my knee high lace-up boots. It totally exists and it looks all futuristic and cool. I'll take a picture of it at some point.
