A $400 Misfortune and the Garden Plot
Jun. 20th, 2012 11:13 amOkay, I am going to be like No Drama Obama here and not make a big scene about little ordinary misfortunes...[1] Like picking up a screw in my left rear tire and needing to buy four new tires out of money I was saving for a new car.[2] Nope, I am totally fine and relentlessly cheerful. You should be cheerful with me too, smile!
It is the middle of June when the beautiful dreams and fully clothed weather of spring have given over to the insect chewed and weedy heat of summer here in Denver. I really do try, it is not all being lazy and preferring to read erotica[3] in bed. If I was being fair with myself I would out half the blame on the universe and he other half on lack of motivation, but the universe is not fair so I will assign it 80/20. The 80% is me being lazy. I did recover from the nadir of housekeeping that occurred in mid-May, however. At one point I was down to he sexy underwear I only put on for going out[4] and dancing in front of mirrors. But since then I have been digging out, I even had people from fandom over last weekend. People coming over did actually motivate me to make a final push and only a little of that push was into a closet to hide problems until tomorrow. And after the party I promptly dug out again and until this car problem I was feeling fairly smug.
Still, on the bright side I have a totally valid excuse in the heat to wear nothing but blue jeans and sunscreen while weeding on Thursday. That should amuse me and when I come inside for cleaning I may find that lost library book.
[1] And if you believe that there will be no kvetching might I ask for your phone number? I "promise" not to call you whenever I get bored, really, honest. Do you believe me?
[2] Well a new-ish vehicle. Something a bit less than the baker's dozen Old Scruffy has. Also, I will greatly enjoy the luxury of a vehicle with no rust or dents. Though I will also miss the security of having almost nothing to lose. Go ahead and ram me from behind Mr Aggressive Audi, while not pleasant I will come out better than you.
[3] Oh if only I had someone to weed and clean for me. Of course that would take money and money requires work. Real work. With degrees and suchlike.
[4] It may be crazy and it may be vain, but I like good looking underwear under good looking clothes. It makes me feel like I have nothing that needs hiding and I am ready to strip for cash should the situation arise. So far it has not, but you never know.
