Typical Mishalak Style Breakfast
Jan. 9th, 2006 01:05 pm1 Microwave Safe Bowl with at least twice the volume of the total volume of the oatmeal and water I will be putting in it.
1 cup oats
1 ¾ cups water
Combine ingredients and microwave for 3 minutes 44 seconds (Why that number, because it is slightly faster to hit another "4" than to hit the zero). Remove from microwave, stir. Add dried fruit or frozen fruit or (occasionally) a little milk. While microwaving the oatmeal I often do other things (like put away dishes) to make full use of my time. Total cost: ~$1.00 (one cup of oatmeal costs about $0.25 and a 16 oz package of blueberries on sale costs about $2.50 and can be used for five or more servings.)
Best frozen fruits:
Blueberries
Peaches
Mango
Cherries
Best dried fruits:
Apples (chopped)
Cranberries
Healthy, tasty, fast, what more could I want from breakfast?
