Closing Time - Semisonic
Sunday
For my last day at the convention I started out wearing levi's and my LotR style DASFA tee shirt. I got some complements on both and so my ego was quite gratified. The selection of cereals in the consuite was suitably horrifying. Lots and lots of very sugary breakfast concoctions including a box of "green slime" cereal. I could have easily gone into insulin shock eating almost anything there, but I found a box of grape-nuts hiding in the corner. There were many discussions of the relative merits of different items for the first meal of the day.

I'll have to let everyone from the convention know that I have this up now so they can come correct my mistakes now.

Autumn arrived in Denver last night in the form of a steady soaking rain. We get days like this when the summer monsoon moisture lingers on and we start to get northern cold fronts like in winter. It makes for a brisk day when I would like to be making a good vegetable soup with the bounty of the season or else enjoying a big cup of tea on the back porch watching the weather. I'm rather glad these days are here, I can get out my collection of sweaters. Fall is the best season in Colorado, there is a huge variety of weather so I never get bored wearing on type of clothing day after day. There are wonderful fruits and vegetables to be enjoyed and the gold of the aspens make the mountains a beautiful joy to visit. Definitely my favorite season.

For lunch today I enjoyed a tomato I picked from my parents' garden yesterday on some sandwiches. For dinner I'm going to dine on peaches, tomatoes, and maybe some fish cakes. I have tinned fish so I don't have to buy anything else, very important after a convention. The whole "I already spent my food budget on books" thing.

Miffed is likely to be going out tomorrow. So here is my tenative introdution. Maybe I should make it more upbeat. But I have all the bits of Miffed #7 listed in my memories.

THE STATE OF THE FUND
Pretty much broke again. Getting the old mark.1 eyeball checked can be surprisingly expensive ($80). On top of that I blew about $250 on everything convention including a book I really ought not to have bought by any rational measure. I hope to save by not spending much on food and the other traditional geek ways of cutting back. I did some calculations at the convention and concluded that I need to save up around $200 to be able to produce a good-sized run of dead tree Miffed. I hope to have some of my friends help out with the big party at MileHiCon. Then I hope to recover for several months, spending minimally at COSign. And of course I need to get a better job so that I can just do my fanac without as much compromise.
