America loves Denmark
Jul. 4th, 2003 11:29 amI'm worried about what Denmark thinks of us, I mean the United Sates as a whole. You see I've always had a special place in my heart for Denmark. They are the only nation I know of that has a big 4th of July celebration. I don't mean that a few expatriates from America put on an event. No, they have a huge fireworks display in the Hills of Rebild a national park that was bought for the Danish people by Max Henius an immigrant to the US and other Americans.
It has always warmed my heart to know that another nation has such a huge event remembering our Independence day. It's like knowing that someone beside yourself is celebrating your birthday, an all around good feeling to be remembered and well liked on this day.
That's why I'm worried. If George W. Bush has buggered up this special relationship I'll be angrier with him than for any of the other things he's done. That's probably not rational, but that's how I feel.
So from me to any of the people of Denmark who might see this message. I think of you in return and I apologize that we have such a horrible leader. I do hope to survive the remaining years of his presidency and I hope that you'll bear with us until then. Hopefully we can go on being friends.
