I'm doing the SCA thing this Friday with my friend Jane, anyone else want to come along? It is all about eating, having fun, and socializing in a medieval sort of way. I like fans of any stripe, but if there is eating and drinking involved, wow, just try to keep me away!

Jane is the wonderful friend who's trying to make a living as a seamstress. She does excellent work, if anyone has the need for that sort of thing contact her at JaneCamel at her aol.com address. I wonder if it would do any good to talk her up at NDK? Probably not as much as MileHiCon, but it can't hurt to say good things about her.

In other news I'm likely to be manning the table at Nan Desu Kan for MileHiCon this weekend. Stop by and say hi. Buy a membership if you haven't all ready!

Damn! I work Fridays or I would seriously think about it. *pout*

So I guess I shouldn't ask if you can get me a free pass. ;-)

I work Fridays as well. I would think this particular revel thing would be more likely to run over NDK for you, it is at about 7pm. I forgot to say that, didn't I? I'll just have to correct the oversight. So the idea is to dress up go to this former library that now belongs to an SCA member at 1901 E. 47th Avenue and eat, talk, and learn stuff about the SCA.

Now I have to go write something I promised yesterday. <grin>

I used to play in the SCA. But found that most of my time was spent drinking, toking, passing out, sleeping and shopping (and Bardic Circle!!). Not bad things, but all crammed into one weekend which include setting up and breaking down camp, was a bit much for my aging body. Plus, I think that there are supposed to be actual things going on during these events, like court and tournaments and such. I always ending up sleeping thru them (hard to sleep thru blaring horns and drums and yelling and the New Mexico heat which may be why I drank so much ... nahh .. the pirates made me do it .. yeah that's the ticket).

Anyway, have a blast and don't spend too much. There are always way cool crafts and stuff to blow the dough on. And remember, pack it in - pack it out and then some.

I've overplanned again - I would like to come to Nandesucon but for the:

  1. Soccer practice

  2. Moving refrigerators at the school

  3. Combined retirement/birthday party for a friend.

If that last one ends before Saturday evening I'll drag Maya over to Nandesucon and see what's going on. What's going on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, and how can I find out more about it?

Well Nan Desu Kan does have a website at http://www.ndk.cc/. It does have some general info about programing (http://www.ndk.cc/ndk2003/programming2003.html) but nothing about specific times it looks like. Other than that, I dunno. Maybe I could post something after Friday. I might have a schedule at that point. I think I'll be manning the table Friday night.

There is the costume contest Saturday, Maya might enjoy that.
