Warm Sun, Cold Earth, Gold Leaves
Sep. 20th, 2004 09:31 pmI drove to Kenosha Pass today. It felt truly like autumn with the wind in the drying leaves and gasses sounded of winter to come. Half the aspens on the pass had already shed their leaves and those that remained sounded like rattling bones. The last flowers, a few yarrow and asters still clinging to life. There were also some struggling chamomile beside the road.
I was sad to see an old highway marker, an unimportant thing really just saying that you can see South Park from this overlook, has been shot and otherwise mutilated over the years. But aside from the evidence of vandalism of nature and civilization my journey to the mountains was a good one. Aspens are like Colorado's blossoming cherries.
