Things have finally come together and so I'm announcing that Conorado will go ahead in May 12-14 2006. We've concluded a contract with the Indian Springs Resort in Idaho Springs, Colorado. Though originally conceived around the idea of organizing crews that would put on the convention and reduce the work for the organizing committee I realized that the structure wasn't going to get anything done. Therefore I'm going ahead in the traditional convention chair and committee model. Though we will expect all attendees to bring a potluck item in addition to buying a membership and anyone who does not will have to treat a committee member to a drink.

Membership rates will be $25 now and $40 at the door. Plus a potluck dish.

Conorado
Chair- M. Mishalak
Treasurer- Martin Heck
Party Coordinator- Rose Beetem
Food Chair- Timmy Simpson
The Chair's Sex Slave- Steve Berman
Security- Robin Owens

Think I should announce my attendance of Worldcon today as well?

Ouch, you got me!

I bought it long enough to skim the main part, but started to suspect something was up when I saw the sex slave bit. But dlacey beat me to noticing the calendar date.

Yours is pretty good too. But I think I will have an offical sex slave if I ever run a convention.

I think you should! It might save your sanity. Hell, I think _any_ con chair should.

I used to have a button that said, "I am not the con chair you are looking for - move along." But I think I gave it to someone.

Hey, I know someone who was Minister of Fun. Why not your own personal Minister of Fun, then?

Love the icon, too (mocking over helping). As some folks like to say, if you can't mock your friends, who can you mock?

I mock everyone. Equal opportunity mockings. Well I might mock myself a bit more than I mock anyone else, but still I think I'm fulfilling my requirements under the legal settlement for non-discrimination in snarkiness.

I do hope that Steve's reaction will be funny.

I give it a B ... maybe a B+

Pretty good, bubbie ... though my (printed) collateral for Karval in '99 was more elaborate and extensive (and ridiculous...). You'd have gotten an A except for the quite elaborate April's Fool that was perpetrated here at work. Two guys put up a fake wall over another's office door, complete with ersatz wood molding, etc. The look on his face when he rounded the corner and started to walk down the hall to his office! Most work I've seen done on an April's Fool Day in years. Have fun at the birthday party! -Rose

pretty good, mishalak. i was just about to send you a check when i decided to read the comments. i think a con with a casserole is a great idea, and having a sex slave for the chair seemed quite in keeping with your con-running talents.

Nice to know that I do a nice April Fools... though I should warn you that if I ever lose my mind and run a convention, don't come. It will be a disaster. I'm not a good leader, though I might make an okay spokesman if I believed in a convention.
