Cheese Review: Leyden
Mar. 23rd, 2005 06:31 pmThis medium hard cheese has a pretty standard mouth feel, but a rich nutty taste. Made with buttermilk and cows milk and flavored with caraway seeds it would be excellent on a sandwich, provided there were some vegetables to balance it, or enjoyed on its own. Given the seeds in it I doubt it would be appropriate for cooking. The piece I saved from my last grand round of purchases cost me $8.79 a pound at Sunflower Market here in Denver. Recommended.
