"Another cup of cappuccino with the blue mountain, please."
Dave waited as Contessa started the process of making his fancy Italian coffee. "You're really keeping me in business with your caffeine addiction David." She moved with the practiced grace of someone who has done a job a long time. In years past you would have seen just as much grace in making a regular cup of joe, indeed she still made regular American style drip coffee for locals, though now she put it in a carafe rather than letting it slowly cook on a burner for half the day.
"Contessa, how does Lars get away with all the things he does?"
She turned on a big smile as she turned on the loud rush of steam into and through the fresh grounds. After the noise stopped she replied, "Who exactly would stop him?" Then she started to steam the milk.
"Well... maybe a overenthusiastic sheriff..." His point trailed off as his brain started to process the idea of someone trying to put Lars Redgrave into jail. It looked like a visit from a dada pep talk.
"If you're thinking what it looks like you are thinking, yes exactly. He'd frustrate the hell out of whoever tried because I think he'd only stay in jail as long as it amused him. I'm not saying he couldn't be stopped," she added under her breath, "or shouldn't be at times," before continuing like she had not paused. "But so far no one has. Any particular reason for asking?"
Dave though briefly, "The idea of not having an uninvited morning person in my house." He managed to make morning person sound somewhat akin to baby eating cultist. Lars, still drinking a cup of coco in the booth by the window heard, but did not bother to comment.
