Cranberries
Nov. 24th, 2004 09:35 pmThe molded cranberry sauce was my favorite part of thanksgiving. It's almost like a desert and that's how I would treat it at times since I didn't like pumpkin pie very much. Generally speaking I loved that holidays a lot. I had very formal ideas about tradition and the way things should be. I think I wanted to be a Victorian aristocrat. I loved the grand formality of it all and so I loved setting up the table for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Given the current state of unsettled life and how much room I have to store stuff I cannot get fancy crystal yet. But there will come a time and then I will have wine goblets, fine bone china, and heavy sterling silver place settings.
Until then I satisfy what remains of the little lordship in me by making molded cranberry sauce and sneering (in a lighthearted way that hopefully no one will take seriously) at people who get theirs out of a can. I bought three bags of cranberries for the Freehold Thanksgiving on Saturday. Hope I'm not duplicating effort.
