I'm not a sports fan. I fairly revel in not knowing a thing about who's playing who on what team. Except for one team, the Boston Red Sox. I have a small secret place in my heart that has always wished them well. Tonight they did something that no team has ever done before. They won a pennant after having been down 3 games to 0. They now go on to the World Series. Even if they don't break the curse I am beyond privately well wishing them. Tonight I wish to shout and exult. I may even have to buy a Red Sox tee shirt or hat or something. They overcame the Yankees!

Date: 2004-10-25 01:28 am (UTC)OK, sports are not my thing.
I mean, I'm excited for the Sox, but even that has diminished since Wednesday night, when the assholes outside were making lots of noise 'til two. And then the rowdy dipshits downtown have the nerve to blame the police for that girl's death. I mean, an officer fired the weapon, so I'm not saying they don't share responsibility, but it was a freak accident during a justified use of force that was only necessary because of the idiots climbing walls, trying to tip over cars, and assaulting the police. It's just as much those jackasses' fault, if not more, and anyone not blinded by grief( I excuse her father, etc.) should have sense enough to see that.

Date: 2004-10-27 12:31 pm (UTC)I've been meaning to find a different place to stay on game nights, the problem being that it's a choice between my parents' house an hour train ride away, or the apartments of various men who want to sleep with me.
