"Oh crap. That's the second doofiest car I've ever seen." -Mishalak reacting after seeing footage of the new batmobile.

So, what's the doofiest car you've ever seen?

A Fiat Multipla, second from the bottom here (http://home.pon.net/hunnicutt/uglycars.htm).

Reminds me of a joke regarding the Honda Element - Everyone thought the Aztec was the ugliest possible SUV. The Honda engineers took this as a challenge - and succeeded.

I always feel like I should salute the Aztek people for at least trying to make a vehicle look futuristic. Still it isn't pretty.

It looks like the offspring of a Hummer and a Delorean - I don't know that I'd say it's bad in and of itself, but it's not the Batmobile.

Beyond not being the batmobile I just took a look at those huge ass tires and thought DOOOFY. Maybe in some weird way cool... but only by being massively unstylish.

It has kind of a Mad Max, cobbled together from spare bits sort of feel about it. I think it's kind of cool in that way, but it is totally unstylish and (I think) totally out of character for Batman.

It didn't look very spare bits to me; just Monster Garage-ish. Like it was put together by a marketing design team to hit all the "right" elements to be modern. Like the stupid thing for a long time when Superman had long hair. I like long hair on guys, I think it is sexy, but it was as silly as putting him on a surf board and all the other things they've done over the years.

Back to the car. I still think it looked doofy from what I could see. Like Grandpa Munster's car, Drag-u-la. Designed to to look "cool" but trying way, way too hard and failing.

Tires. The tires of doom. And they thought this design was cool why?

Yes, tires of doom. I'm having trouble thinking what the vehicle would actually be useful for. I mean I like a certain amount of style before functionality, but the giant tires make it look really vulnerable.

It's like a Lamborghini Countach and the Dukes of Hazzard car had a horrible mutant baby and sold it to the circus.

I'll loan it to ya. ;)

It's sad, really.. two cars from different worlds come together, but their oppressive families and class barriers keep them apart. One is of Italian money, the other has Ozark oil pumping through his veins. No matter what he does, or what he adds to his fuel, he'll never have those flip-top doors (nor the approval of the powerful Lamborghini contingent).

Actually thinking about it now it is more like the mutant offspring of a Hummer and a Lamborghini Countach.

The Hummer is like those oilmen who buy a ranch in Colorado and want very much to be perceived as self made men, but they still inherited the fortune from mummy and daddy. He's got the blue jeans, he's got the plaid shirt, but he's still never really worked a day in his life. Now his cousin the military humvee is a real working class vehicle. And that's the trouble with that Batmoblie, the offspring of two impractical cars who really wants badass street cred, but couldn't stand up in a real fight. If only his military family member could have taught him a little maybe he wouldn't have those huge doofy tires.

I hadn't had a chance to respond to anything yet, but I totally agree with your comment. Ugh.

So what IS the doofiest car you've ever seen?

The Munster Family Koach (http://www.munsterkoach.com/jesy1.htm) has a certain doofy to max air about it, but it has a weird sort of charm. The Pontiac Aztek (bottom most here (http://home.pon.net/hunnicutt/uglycars.htm)) is in many people's minds one of the ungliest cars ever, but the vehicle that really screams DOOOFY to me is the Fiat Multipla right above it.

Looks like a cut-down version of the Batmobile-cum-tank from DKR.

That might be some of my negative reaction. I hated Dark Knight Returns. But I saw those giant wheels and could only think, "Wow, what a great target you've built Batman."

I dunno. That actually looked armored and hard to stop, where as this looks like a drag racer rather than something military. At least to me.
