Combine 3 cups peaches and 1 cup sugar and age for 24 hours. The sugar will be partially absorbed by the peach slices so they will not freeze as hard in the ice cream. Once aged puree 2 cups and leave the other 1 cup diced into thumbnail or smaller sized bits.

Cook 1/2 cup honey with 2 tablespoons flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup milk, and three beaten eggs. Once the mixture becomes thick (no, pretty thick about 12 minutes at altitude) show eggs are cooked add 1 cup cream and chill in the refrigerator. Once cooled down pour it into your ice cream freezer Process until thick and add reserved fruit chucks. Mix and either server immediately for very soft ice cream or age in the freezer for 2 hours for harder (but still not rock hard) ice cream.

Makes aprox. 2 quarts.

(Note: Homemade ice cream is looking increasingly unlikely to happen this Saturday. There will be ice cream, but I cannot make any myself.)

Homemade or just good--ice cream rules!

Like I said before, as long as you don't buy quality ice cream and not that evil ice-milk, it's all good. Plus people will have toppings to play with.
I'm still planning to show up for some swabby duty on Saturday, and the Friday expedition to the drive-in is firming up, barring nasty uncooperative weather. Let's talk tonight! -Rose

Cool. I plan on buying two gallons of Costco's Vanilla Ice Cream and leaving it at that because I'm thinking making ice cream will just be a bridge too far. This apartment is kicking my ass.

Oops ... I meant as long as you *buy* quality ... not "don't buy." See you tonight ...-Rose

Heads up!!

I'm a total stranger from Texas who has just added you as an LJ friend.

The Dragon Waiting is one of the better books I've read in the last decade, though it's increasingly hard to find copies of it. Unlike you, I enjoy both Dan Savage *and* 'Dr.' Laura. I'm also a big fan of xeriscaping (lawns are a pain to mow), and, ummmmmm, "manstroh" is a wonderful word. So those things are on the short list of why I added you.

Just so you know.

Um... okay? I'm not sure exactly how I should respond.

There isn't really any way that you 'should' respond. I added you, I thought it would be polite to give you a note telling you why, and so I did.

I was surprised that you responded to mine, actually.

Well it is just that my usual response is to add people back when they add me so they can read my non-public posts. But I've already run up against my personal limit of people I can pay attention to. So adding you I'm unlikely to read your journal much. So I feel like I have a sort of disclaimer.

If you're okay with that welcome and don't worry about unfreljing (my friend [livejournal.com profile] rmoorman's alternative term to friending) me or whatever if you stop reading me.

First Impressions

I didn't really expect you to add me back. Occasionally people do add me back after I've been on one of my "I add you because I can" sprees, and I'm always a lil' surprised when it happens. I mean, *I* add people because their writing moves me or makes me laugh or is at least interesting, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to read my dull account of how I spent my weekend or what the new house I'm hoping for looks like.

Also, frankly, it's just never a good sign when my very first contact with someone makes him look at me (well, cyber-look) and think, "hhhmmmmm, how strange. I wonder why she did THAT?"

Oh, and the house I don't expect you to care about? I'm going for to meet a guy for a foundation inspection tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me, OK?

Thanks. G'night.

The thing is that freljing is two different parts. First is reading that person's journal and second is giving access to posts. I add nearly everyone because if you're interested enough in me to want to read my public ones officially why shouldn't you have access to my more personal thoughs? Sorry that I was rambly in my last response, I'm going to have to do a post about this subject sometime.
