Learning Curves

The curves on my learning at not at all attractive. I plugged in the old computer's drive into the SATA/IDE to USB adaptor and it did not come up. So... I also tried on windows for grins, but of course I could see it but not access anything there. I am now at a bit of a stand. I cannot find the volume under disc utility or finder in any form. Drat. I suppose I should be singing, "Where Do We Go From Here?"

I suppose I could try getting an enclosure with a FireWire thingy so that I could try something I only half understood, but that might be heading for madness. Especially since I only half understood it.

Hm. When I first plugged in my old hard drive into my new computer, I wasn't immediately able to do stuff with it until I went through some config screen and... something. It was very stream of consciousness. There was also a bit where I had to reassign the permissions on the drive so that I had the permission to see the files.
