My Account

I wonder what recourse I would have if my account were deleted/suspended for posting something that someone would take offense at and report me for violation of the Terms of Service. I mean I have a permanent paid account, I already gave livejournal my money. Would I get any back if my account were deleted? And I suppose it could be. Apparently any violation of US Law can get you deleted if you are reported as promoting/soliciting it and I don't doubt that something I've written about is illegal. I wrote some fanfiction a lot time ago and posted it to my journal and while I think it would be covered under parody I doubt LJ would stop to ask questions should it be contacted by lawyers. At least judging from their current behavior.
On the other hand I've already given them my money. Going somewhere else would be like flushing that. And I have no effective way to protest. I cannot really say, "I'm not going to renew," now can I?
Note to self: If I ever start an internet company do it in some country with liberal internet law. So that if US law enforcement contacts me I can make an actual judgment call rather than having to obey stupid laws due to liability issues. The more uphill battle would be to advocate for the changing of US liability law to give common sense exceptions, which it really does not have right now.
