Some sort of front just passed my apartment. The wind was very fierce, like blustery day fierce. I dashed outside to rescue my Christmas cactus because I was afraid it would be blown over. Dust filled the air and the phone lines hung sideways against the backdrop of a pale pink/orange sky. I think this was just the momentary thing of the wind front of an air mass passing here. I wonder if that means that the dry weather will change.

However the current wind map shows relative calm there, adjacent states are windy so it that may have been a front moving through.

Sunset and I think perhaps it was some sort of decaying rainstorm downdraft. That would make sense with how strong it was.

And yes it was near sunset, we often get orangy/pink skies here in Colorado at sunset when there are clouds.

Thanks. I asked because once I was traveling somewhere rural, I think it was SE Oregon, when a storm front came through. In the 20 minutes or so before the rain hit, in the strong winds and scudding clouds, the sky was pink. We talked it over and decided it was from dust kicked up by the winds, and the contrast against the blue-grey of the clouds.

Puget Sound area gets a lot of pink clouds, but that's partially because the surrounding mountains and hills create a large basin that traps the air pollution from the +5 million people living here.
