Thursday
My thought process on Wednesday night went something like this. "Mother will need help getting the snow off the road tomorrow morning. Plus we have a new snow blower that will make the task easy and besides that I'm not quite ready yet, so I'll get up and pack then."
Unfortunately I made a series of mistakes in judging the depth of the snow and the ease that I would have removing it, and so when I finally started it was actually around one foot deep rather than the two inches I had guessed at some hours earlier. It was also a heavy sodden mess that necessitated using the lowest possible speed and frequent stops to clear the throat of the machinery. After the first pass the machine ceased to work entirely and had to be returned to the garage for repair and tinkering before I could resume with the next two passes.
Finally with the road clear enough I drove, slowly, towards Denver. Night had fallen and the snow was thickly packed upon the highway. It resembled driving upon an old and rutted dirt road so thick was the snow, with potholes that opened to pavement inches under the surface and jarred my vehicle. I passed one person apparently afraid to get out of first gear crawling at no more than five miles an hour. For my part I kept to a reasonable thirty until I finally found pavement that was for the most part free of snow.
I love spending time with my boyfriend,
animazed, so though tired I was very happy to arrive at his apartment in Denver. After a merry meeting there was sleep and so passed the day before MileHiCon.
