The World Comes to Denver
Aug. 27th, 2006 10:42 pmFor the very few who do not know, Denver will be hosting the World Science Fiction Convention in 2008. Both congratulations and condolences are in order for the successful bid team who will now have two years to have their sanity tested and find the limits of what they can do in the name of this sort of Fannish Potlatch. It's both very exciting and terribly scary. There will be a number of people involved whom I like and wish well, but I don't think I would be very useful for anything other than basic grunt work in the morning. Plus I'm not inclined to get involved in high level fannish volunteering as I don't have the money to do it, as well as not having the skills.
Out of curiosity, who reading this will be seriously considering coming to Denver in 2008 for Worldcon? Though I won't be involved in the high level running of anything I will certainly be going and there are better than even odds that I'll be having a party at the convention. Because I like parties.

Date: 2006-09-01 06:33 pm (UTC)MileHiCon might just be doable next year. I really wish I could have made it this year. I have a good friend up in Aurora, and I would have dragged her sorry butt off to it, too. Especially since she bailed on bubonicon.
I'm kind of hoping to make Comicon next year, too. But I'll just have to see about that one.
