For the very few who do not know, Denver will be hosting the World Science Fiction Convention in 2008. Both congratulations and condolences are in order for the successful bid team who will now have two years to have their sanity tested and find the limits of what they can do in the name of this sort of Fannish Potlatch. It's both very exciting and terribly scary. There will be a number of people involved whom I like and wish well, but I don't think I would be very useful for anything other than basic grunt work in the morning. Plus I'm not inclined to get involved in high level fannish volunteering as I don't have the money to do it, as well as not having the skills.

Out of curiosity, who reading this will be seriously considering coming to Denver in 2008 for Worldcon? Though I won't be involved in the high level running of anything I will certainly be going and there are better than even odds that I'll be having a party at the convention. Because I like parties.

[livejournal.com profile] celticdragonfly and I are going to try to make it. We're huge fans of Lois Bujold.

Woo! I can actually make it to Denver. Not that bad of a drive from Abq, as you know. I'll probably be there.

Hey, it was really cool meeting you at Bubonicon. You are an intriguing individual...

I would expect to see multiple cars coming from Albuquerque. Perhaps even organized convoys. Any chance of MileHiCon next year? I think you said that it wouldn't work this year for you.

Heh. I'll probably be driving more than few of the people up there. I have a big car. :)

MileHiCon might just be doable next year. I really wish I could have made it this year. I have a good friend up in Aurora, and I would have dragged her sorry butt off to it, too. Especially since she bailed on bubonicon.

I'm kind of hoping to make Comicon next year, too. But I'll just have to see about that one.

Since Bujold's GoH, I'm pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] cynthia1960 will be there. And it would be great opportunity for me to revisit Rocky Mountain National Park since I've not been there in a long time.

Probably...

I'll probably be there even though they picked a local... ;-)

I'm sure that there will be other guests beside LM Bujold.

Worldcons are too big for me. I'll watch from afar.

Ah well, they're too big for me as well. But I plan on cutting out a little corner of it and making that MY Con. Mostly in my room party.

Maybe... I'm not in a position to make firm plans for cons that far ahead, but I'm certainly not ruling it out.

Understandable. The only reason I think I can make plans for this one is that I'm fairly confident of still being in the area. I suppose I should buy a membership. After all I can always resell it if I end up somewhere else.

If the Worldcon were in Chicago the chances would be slim. Columbus, only slightly better.

[livejournal.com profile] kproche and I will be there. We won't be running a party, the year or so after CC26 will be our year to relax and recover.

But you'll give money to the Tea and Sympathy Debauchery Party, right? Only $10 for a supporting membership and $25 for attending. <grin>
