Denver, Saturday Brunch
Mar. 14th, 2006 10:59 pmDenver is okay... I've been informed that my favorite place for tea, Gemini on Welton, closed. I meant to go by there just to see, but didn't actually manage it. Raven's Oh My Goth moved to a bigger location on Emerson at Colfax as well, at first I was afraid it had closed as well since when I went by the old storefront out past Colorado Blvd there was something new there.
I was in town to have brunch with a friend from LJ at a place on 17th called the Bump N Grind, good food but a sort of trailer trash drag queen chic decor. Somewhat disturbing because when it is that down home you start to wonder what state the kitchen is in, or at least I do. It was my first instance of an actual brunch with fellow gays, though it was Saturday rather than Sunday.
It wasn't bad. Everyone was interesting, but I was left at loose ends afterwards because everyone was running off to work or whatever. That's how I ended up shopping in Capitol Hill. After the guy who was going to Night Watch with me cancelled due to sickness, though did not know that until about start time. Though by my usual strange luck I managed to run into Ed Bryant (famous local Horror and SF writer) outside the theater while waiting. There ensued a nice talk with him and that passed the time very well. I nearly went to Night watch anyway, but decided against it when I could not find anyone else to go with.
Then I hung out with two friends from the SF club for quite some time. That was grand fun as well. All in all a very pleasant way to spend much of a day in Denver.
