Oh they are still quite comfortable, only slightly on the heavy side. And I can sit down in them and everything. Obviously I don't know much about fashion.
I put the screws through the seam allowance, the flap of fabric holding the seam together, so it is actually through three layers of fabric so they don't flop around much. If that had not worked I would have added a strip of leather or vinyl to keep them stable.
