Two Jet Flights and a UPS Delivery
Feb. 16th, 2006 06:57 pmI left San Francisco as a cold front was moving in. Nothing terrible by Colorado standards, but I was happy to have my suit and all its layers on. I had to struggle to get the last few things in my bags as I had miscalculated how much they would hold easily. There were four of them, I must have looked quite a sight on BART wheeling them onto BART, two on a ancient set of wheels ahead and one with its own wheels and another bag attached behind me. I checked the two bags containing clothes and carried the two with the expensive computer equipment onto the flight leaving San Francisco International at forty minutes past midnight.
I slept fitfully until the preparations for landing started, but I was not arriving in Denver. To save money I was flying Continental with a connection in Houston where I met up with my father for breakfast and then my uncle for the flight to Denver. We talked for a long time and then dashed off for the second flight (the first had been overfull) arriving in Denver just after noon local time. So after 11 hours of being on the road I was finally in Denver, but it was much less expensive than either driving or flying direct on some other airline.
The car left for us by my parents in the parking lot was retrieved without incident and after an hour drive to the house I could have easily slept, but I wanted to stay on a normal sleeping schedule. So I stayed up until nine at night doing various things like unpacking bags and playing pool.
The next day (today as I write this) I put away the rest of the contents of my bags and just as I was wondering what to do next the doorbell rang with the delivery of nine boxes of stuff I had shipped on Monday. They have been emptied and put away and tomorrow I start the job search.
