Well yesterday I was already seeing the fire I've jumped into with this job working payroll for a smallish accounting and tax company. But I think I knew what I was getting into, so I'm not panicked or anything. My predecessor apparently left a lot of work undone when she left without notice. Plus with the learning curve of figuring out how to do things in a new job this is going to be an interesting few weeks. Right now I'm staying with my uncle in-law (the brother of the lady who married my uncle) at his house in Noe Valley on Castro Street. Yep right on the street and the office I work at overlooks 18th and Castro, I'm really in the heart of it. But as I figure out how well this is going to work out I'm going to have to look for an inexpensive roommate situation, perhaps across the bay.

Things are going well so far. Today I hope to get ahead of the game a little at work, buy a few things I left out of my packing, and maybe get out and have some fun. I'm on my cell.

I think I need a deer in the headlights picture to express how exciting this all is at times.

Cool... is SF long-term for you, or just a short change of scenery?

Longterm provided everything works out with the new job in the short term. If I get all settled in even if the job goes away I'm likely to stick around.

cool... caught your message, but I've been going mad packing, so I haven't been spending any time on the phone. We're in Glasgow for a week and a half, and then up near Clear Lake for the weekend, but sanity returns August 15.

Bay Area Gay Rodeo is middle of September, SiliCon (small convention) is in San Jose early October, VintaCon (wine-tasting convention) is mid-October in Livermore, Yaoi-Con (anime/manga "slash" convention) is at the Westin SFO Halloween weekend (unless you plan to stay in the Castro for Halloween).

Should have figured you would be getting ready for that. But I'm not worried. It won't be until sometime after the month of August that I am sane again.

Are you set for socializing, or should I introduce you to some of the friends I have in SF?

New friends would be great. Heck, meeting you sometime would be great too.

[livejournal.com profile] trolleypup might have some rental suggestions - I know he rents in SF, and he works for the bus company.

That is nifty, thanks. I'll probably start looking next weekend if things are going well then.

Truly this came on suddenly for me as well, my head is spinning. I got into Steamboat Springs and discovered I had a job on Wednesday and was out here by Saturday.

Glad to hear you've a) got a job, b) arrived safely. :-) I won't be back in the bay area until September, otherwise would have been glad to greet you.

I also work in payroll so you can ask me questions. I dunno if I'll be able to answer them, but I can pretend to be helpful. :) Good luck!

Coolness. I'm mildly overwhelmed at this time, but hey I expected that. I can just guess that tomorrow will be a better day and I can start catching up.
