Capture and Release
Jun. 17th, 2005 02:50 pmA Pointless Good Deed Story
I saw one of the biggest spiders I'd ever seen in Colorado again today. I'm fairly sure it was the same one because how many of that size can there be the back room where I keep my books? It used to spin a web in the window where it caught a great many flies, but possibly because I disturbed her she left that spot and today I found her wandering around on the floor. I quickly put a glass over her and was amazed to see her fully in the open fully as big as my thumbnail with a bit left over. I slipped a piece of cardboard under the glass carefully so as not to pull off any legs and left her on the back porch. I wish her good hunting outside. I would have let her stay if she had remained in the window away from my books.

Because I don't squish spiders or anything else if they find themselves trapped inside. Except maybe moths, those things are just annoying. But I could never do a successful capture and release, I always end up doing horrible things to them. "Sorry, you didn't need that head. Oops!"
