The Birthday Party
Jul. 11th, 2012 09:44 pmFearless Leader's birthday party was already well assembled by the time I arrived. For weeks, no, months it had been gloriously hot and sunny so she had planned for us to be in her back yard and instead it was raining heavily and we were sheltering under a porch. Ping-Pong was being played inside the garage, but most people were talking and eating only with spirits only slightly damped by the moisture.
Lady Hillsoul looked elegant in heels and a skirt and her gluten free bread contribution to the food table was well received by the Countess Leafsong who discovered she has to avoid wheaten foods this past year. I did not know that it had no gluten until after I consumed a piece, it was rather like a ciabatta bread.
My own contributions of coleslaw and baked beans also seemed to be enjoyed. I also felt quite good and confident about my ensemble and I received a number of complements with good grace. I titled the outfit Lord of Ash & Cinder for the combination of greys and blacks, five hematite necklaces, a quartz crystal, variegated ashy jeans, a black tee shirt, and a coat the color of dusty slate. I was told by another attendee that grey is very in right now. As usual I had no idea since I dress on a whim and a prayer.
