Acidental Problem Solving
Mar. 17th, 2012 02:00 pmToday I accidentally solved a problem I did not know I had. I pulled up a paving stone to see how difficult it might be to regrade the soil near the southeast corner of my house. Under it I was disturbed to find termites. I have not seen any signs of termite damage in my house so I suppose they must be going after dead bits of the ailanthus tree. I hope. But then I noticed some fighting and wiggling, I had simultaneously uncovered an ant tunnel. Going back several hours later I find the ants busily dragging dead termites into their passageway and continuing the attack. How about that? I will be on the look out for signs and activity as I pull up paving stones closer to the house, but the problem may have solved itself.
