AUC 2760 December 22, Mercury's Day

I have in front of me a Christmas card covered in penguins. Which are the official non-eating bird of Yule. The card is from Bug to Richard and me and she wondered when exactly penguins became 'so closely associated with Xmas'. My answer is going to be that they became part of the holiday with the prorogation of the Gospel according to St. Cocoa during the reign of King Bill. For did he not say that penguins are like unto the perfect symbol for they never swim alone. Also there are penguins on Richie's wrapping paper along with reindeer and Santa. Maybe Santa has relocated operations to the South Pole? (As we'll have to do with Polar Bears at some point.)

She also sent Chocolate... Fantastic present. Flavored with Earl Grey Tea. She reports that she's working through a nearby shop's varieties. Merry Yule, Christmas, and Boxing Day to Bug. And now we're in debt. Have to send her something nice in the new year from H'merica. I'll have to watch her interests for ideas.

Oh and the never swim alone bit is from the Madagascar Penguins in A Christmas Caper short. Check You Tube if you've not seen it, very funny. Kaboom!
