Double Glad
Aug. 10th, 2006 01:25 pmWell apparently due to something that happened today there will be no more carrying of necessary or valuable items onto flights to the United Kingdom. ref. That's right folks, no books, no bottles of proper tea, no cameras, no change of clothes incase your luggage is temporarily lost.
Fortunately I had all but decided that I wouldn't go to the UK at all if I would not be standing for TAFF. Though in the back of my mind the idea of going still suggested itself. But an 8-hour flight with no books, no food but airline food, and making it impossible to make sure that my camera or other valuable items don't get nicked by the ground crew? Somehow travel to the UK just doesn't appeal anymore. I'd sooner travel to friendly Belarus or North Korea at this point. Perhaps I should see if I can't visit fans in Canada and the north east instead if I want to take some fannish trek. For now the TSA is behaving in a saner manner than their British counterparts. I'm also wonder if I shouldn't write to the British Foreign Office to let them know that this is absolutely ridiculous.
