Review: Major Tom's Pomegranate Wheat
Jun. 23rd, 2006 11:22 amFor a beer this does have a bit of a sweet note to it, but it isn't sweet like wine or even like tea with half a spoonful of sugar. It is a hint of sweet with a good deal of sharply sour with the wheat beer dominating. That is probably just as well as pomegranate is a very strong fruit and if much more was added it might have made this beer too sour. It doesn't have the bitter flavor of hops; rather this is like a good beer with a touch of lemon. That isn't exactly the flavor, but it is as close as I can get to describe what this tastes like without invoking the idea of a pomegranate seed in your mouth with a good sized swallow of beer.
I recommend it for people who enjoy things like Beir de Mars from New Belgian Brewing. It isn't a lambic or even a fruit beer like Pyramid Apricot. Fairly light and sharp.
